Rod for HB's

Hey Gang,

I'm in the market for a decent high end rod specifically for hardbodies.

I'm tossing up between either a Samurai 203 or a TSR862-2 GLX.

I know they'd both be fantastic choices but I'm not too sure which route to take.

I currently own a DSR 820 GLX and have been using it for just about everything. I love the sensitivity that it offers when working blades. I think the action is a little to stiff for hardbodies though but I am no expert that's for sure.

There's a thread on here somewhere where people talk about the 3 main G Loomis spin rods and I can't seem to find it. Whoever can find the thread for me will receive many thanks and can borrow my mrs for 4 nights only. It's a thread where they talk about the uses of the DSR 820, TSR862-2 and the SR842-2.

Much appreciate if anyone can link me to it I've been looking for ages.

Also for those who use a DSR 820 GLX what do you use it for? And what do you think the other 2 GLX's would serve for?

Cheers

Joel

Hey mate I sent you a PM.

Edit: Duffrods X842sp is a 7' two piece HB designed rod. Would be my choice.

Cheers for the help and P.M's fellas.

I like the look of the duff rods but I doubt I'd get to feel one.

For that reason I generally go for off the shelf rods.

Anyone else fished the TSR or SR?

Cheers

Hi; I have used both. If you are doing lots of long casting over flats etc I would use the TSR - its got some more backbone than the SR. The SR is my current rod which casts small hardbodies beautifully and being slightly smaller is ideal for me out of my yak. Having said that, I miss the muscle of the TSR - the TSR is probably the more versatile of the two; its also quite a capable soft plastics rod.

Thanks for the help mountainman.

Still leaning towards a GLX mainly cause I can get them at half the price of a duffrod.

Can someone please find me the freakin thread where they talk about the 3 main GLX rods. It would be very helpful to me right now.

Ta

Also looking for more info on the uses of the three rods and what you do with them.

For example do you find the DSR is best used for palstics?

Or TSR for HB's etc?

Let me know please

Joel
