G-Loomis DSR820s GL2 rods any good?

Gday all was at a local tackle shop today and seen a G-Loomis DSR820s GL2 4-8lb Extra Fast rod sitting in the bargain bin. I am looking to get an upgrade of rod because I am currently using a Starlo stick ultra light at moment. Are these good rods? Are they a better rod for hard bodies or soft plastics? I mainly fish for bream and was looking for a good rod for soft plastics?. Any help would be appreciated.

I have had one of those for about one and a half months now and can't fault it. i haven't used much in the way of harbodies yet however it can flick plastics very well and give them a good twitch. there's plenty of power in it and you would have no trouble coaxing a bream out of tiger country with it. i got mine for $300 at a local tackleword, so if it is cheaper, go for it!

.

I got one matched up with a Shimano Symetre 2500. It's a good all purpose rod for the style of fishing I do flicking plastics & hardbodies for bream, flathead. I however prefer my t-curve as I find it more comfortable to use all day. I picked mine up for $245 at the Sydney Boat Show recently.

How cheap is it? Loomis used to be the top product but there are better products out there now for half the money.

I enjoy using mine. I asked locally(SA Bream Master section) what could be recommended to match up with my 2500 Stradic fi and this was the rod. It was compatible for hb/sp fishing for bream both sub and surface fishing as well as local bycatch(mulloway). I now have it matched to a Twinpower 2500 and I could not be more spoilt. If you can get it on the cheap then grab it while you can - I paid $370 and it has been worth it. Regards. Hbt.

GLoomis make a pretty good blank.
I have picked up and played with the blended version of this blank and feel that its very good.
Personally I'm not really interested in the Loomis GL2 or GL3's, I think there is better bang for the buck.
I do like the the IMX and GLX and the DSR blend, but I would build my own.

Haven't had the pleasure of the NRX's yet. Avoiding even looking at these just in case I like them.

G'day HBT at the moment I will be matching it up to a 2500 Stradic Fi but also looked at the 2500 sustain for a future reel upgrade.

If you are referring to the short butt inter model then yes. I was keen to try one to see the difference between it and my longer butt version. I held one with a 2500 Stradic on it (which I use). Suffice to say I am glad I have what I have. Did not like the feel. Regards. HBt.

I have this rod. I like it. I use it plastics, hardbodies, and surface lures.

I am thinking of getting the better models of this 820s but would not get rid of the GL2.

I actually don't think its the best rod out there.....but this rod is like a good luck charm or something and I can't part with it.
