Hey mate,

A 2004 reel is has a 2000 size body and shallow spool, a 2506 has a 2500 size body and shallow spool. The are slight differences between shimano and daiwas sizing though.

Daiwas 200x sizes are a little smaller than shimano 2500's, and 250x sizes are a bit bigger than shimano 2500's. Having the numbers on the end, like in 2004 or 2506, just indicates the reel has a finesse spool, which has lesser line capacity and a finesse drag.

Caldias are good reels, so are the stradics. Really just comes down to personal preference.

Yes you can, but I'm pretty sure its going to cost you more than $30.
A lot of the daiwa 2500 spools should fit, sol, advantage, heartland, luvias? so you might be able to find someone willing to part with one.
