Getting a grip of photoshop

Hey guys,

My old man wanted to learn how to use photoshop to add colours to only certain objects, so he gave me photoshop, told me to learn how to use it, then teach him, haha.

After a little while i got the hang of it and learnt how to do it. These are some of my first efforts ( nothing special in terms of effects, but i thought it was cool finally knowing how people do it!)

Just browsing what photoshop has to offer, its crazy!

Bob156,

always good when you remember cool things hey?
I like just little subtle colour insertions like you did with the wheels, need to find an appropriate photo to do it with

Yeh it really is, i used to play with it alot when i was skating but just forgot about.
That extra bit of colour with the black and white just adds that little bit extra to the picture and makes you really focus on it, like with your pic of the fish on the bottom left the colours could have been missed on a single glance with the full colour shot but now it just pops
I will have to have a play around with photoshop tomorrow

that photo in particular really amazed me, i didnt realise the fish was so blue in the picture! I thought photoshop was screwing up, but i compared it to the original and turns out nothing had changed! Really is good for emphasizing colours without saturating them

thanks man, wasnt too sure whether to include that pic. Havent changed much at all as the water colour was pretty dark to begin with! ( although the water at the actual spot was crystal clear). I guess its the little differences that can make photos that little bit better

Also got this one

i do it differently to the link. I have learnt how to do it 2 ways.

First is I add an adjustment layer and reduce the hue/saturation to 0. Then begin using the brush to add the foreground colour ( or background colour) back into the pic.

Secondly, if im lazy, I use the magic lasso tool, roughly go over the image, right click, and change the colour to the foreground/background colour. Real quick and easy!
