Rod Tubes
Hey Gang,
I currently use Rod Covers bought from Big W. The blue slip over covers to transport my rods in cars etc. However doing this I still need to be really careful and my Mrs is reckless around them. I'm keen on upgrading to rod tubes and wanted to know what the best makers are and where I can get them from. That way I can not be as cautious around the car I can practically throw them around. I've only ever seen the Jarvis Walker ones at BC F. I want something like the photo below. It was posted by a user in a FS thread in here: ![]() That would suit me pretty well I reckon. But let me know what you guys think. Also I would much prefer to buy one I know it's relatively easy to make one but I'd prefer one like pictured above. Cheers Joel |

The one in the photo looks like a Shimano tube. I have a similar smaller one for my 2 piece Jewel that I use for travel. Very sturdy unit and not expensive. The one piece costs a little more but worth it if it affords the protection you desire. Hope this helps. Regards. HBt.

Get pvc tube from your hardware shop, and a couple of ends - either thread or slip on, thats what i use when i travel distances and on planes etc. im sure someone has a pic of one, these work well and are reasonably cheap to construct. Or buy one already covered from somewhere, they are certainly safest. The one pictured seems pretty good.

I only use 2 piece rods. Picked up this a few yrs ago and it great. It's mad by prox inc. I've traveled with it overseas quite a few times and its perfect. Stores up to 6 rods depending on how you pack them. Get a lot of weird looks when going through customs.

Wow very nice namyau.
Thankyou for posting. The owner of the one I posted confirmed that it's a Shimano Triangular case. They can be bought at ray annes. Just had a look at them you can get a rectangular or triangular and they both look the same except the Rectangular is double the friggin price of the triangular. Wtf is the go there? |

gladiator make the best one!
Big tube cut in half fully padded and holds 16 rods up to 7'6'' long. Don't know who has them in stock but any gladiator dealer can get them for you. I paid 200 for my one... |

Theres those big Bazooka tubes iv got one of those they hold quite a few rods, Plano make them, Shimano make them and Jarvis walker make them take your rod in and measure properly depends on what size rods your first guide is, may not fit in, but my favourite is go to bunnings like Richo said buy your PVC 2 end caps and some foam and make one cost $40 total. I have one mounted on my roofrack to put tent poles in or rods when going away best $40 bucks you can spend ARB will charge you $250 for the same thing

Ive made a couple for surf rods for myself and mates, and they work well.
Ive also bought a Jarvis Walker tube and reckon they're pretty good for the money. Only thing on my JW was the zippered end cap was just a cylinder of pvc with foam inside it. There was no hard pvc on the flat of the cap, if you get what I mean. |

Hey guys much appreciate the replies and all the help + Info.
I ended up picking up a Shimano Triangular 2.2m. This is good for a decent bream rod but anything heavier will result in the stripper guide not fitting into it. It will only fit one rod but it is a very snug fit for a 7foot rod. I also plan on getting the rectangular version to fit in a few rods + Larger rods. The shimano ones seem like they are excellent quality especially compared to the Jarvis Walker ones I looked at today. Would definitely recommend the Shimano one for a 7foot light stick however make sure your stripper guide fits into it before purchasing. Cheers guys thanks again. Joel |

You can get 2 rods into them, just have one in the opposite direction to the other. Have done this many times before, and still do when we go away with the family and pack the rods in the car.
