Luderick fishing

I want to try luderick fishing I will be using seaweed as bait and was wondering if any people have any experience or hints? I've read a few articles and I've got the general gist of what i need to do.
I go spear fishing/snorkling a fair bit during summer around Williamstown (Vic)and i see stacks of them, but they're too fast to hit and they keep their ditance, I figure I'll try catch some on rod and reel.

Any tips would be awsome

Cabbage weed under a pencil float on a tiny hook. A small split shot just above the hook to get the hook hanging down nice under the float.

They love vibes as well. All i could catch today besides Rat Bream. The most effective way is with weed though.

i do a lot of fishing for these things in the winter when i cant get the yak out. i love targeting them off the stones but get plenty off small rock walls too. a pencil style float is the way to go and make sure to use a fluoro leader, i usually use a 3 way swivel and run to leaders anything from 4 to 8 pound. the lighter you go the more bites you will get. probably have these leaders around 40cms to 1m long.

This +1. Have also got em on bread. Best not to overcomplicate things

a yabbie with no sinker thrown over a weed bed will do the trick, then hold on!

I find it is always a good idea to hold onto your rod while fishing

We had a session yesterday in the Harbour... landed about 8-10 in 2hrs...

You'll need ultra fresh weed (we use "stringy type") and fish the high tide only.... we usually get there 40mins before & stay 40mins after the high tide...

PS. They're great fun when they're biting, but when they're not around, it gets pretty boring staring at a float for hours!... good luck
