Any plain old mono as close as you can to the diameter of your braid will do the job fine mate.

I use 6lb standard mono as backing on my bream reels. To spool the reel, I fill the spool with the braid first, then fill the top with the mono right to the very top lip of the spool. Then if the reel comes with two spools, I take that one off and put on the spare spool and fill it with the line on the other spool (confused yet?), so as the mono goes on first and then the top shot of braid. I then trim off any excess braid (it usually about 5m or less) that may be too close to the spool lip.

If the reel doesn't come with a spare spool, then you will have to tranport the line 3 times instead of just 2.

Use braid backing. Not all braid will slip its usually the coated braids that will slip but you can apply some electrical tape to the spool before spooling up which will stop line slip...
