Pointless Question.

Pointless Question, but just a bit curious about this.

Why do Shimano name each individual reel with a certain letter?
E.g Spin; Sienna,Slade,Siedo,Sahara,Saros,Stradic,Sustain,St ella etc.
Cast; Crestfire,Callisto,Curado,Caenan,Citica,Chronarch, Calais etc.
Overhead; Tiagra,TLD,Tyrnos,Tekota, etc.
But then there are Twinpowers, Rareniums, BC 200 etc which also have different colour boxes compared to the Red Boxes Spin's with 'S' in there name.
Same with the Casting reels; Green boxes and the Overhead reels with Blue.

Are these ment to be exclusive reels to Australia, and the reel's with the same first letter are there Global Products?

Like said, it's a pointless topic. But, it's just something that I've been curious about lol.

I saw the bike on the train the other day, not sure what was its manufacture or a brand.

But the wheels were marked Shimano and the chainset assembly carried the name Tiagra

I've had Tiagra Shimano bike gear sets, Shimano brake systems... Were nice bits of kit

Same as a Getz although substantially heavier

I should add that I paid over a $1k for a Shimano 'ovaltech' group set for my roadbike 12 years ago. Gotta be mad, imagine how much fishing tackle I could have got then ???

The question is, can your bike pack on 20 kilos of drag?

My road bike runs a full Ultegra group set(Shimano) and that's still not the best stuff, just a $3k Trek. Whack Durace all around and you're looking at big dollars!!!!

That would be an interesting experiment
Next time I see one of the boys in a bream comp near riverside drive on the cycle path or a flyfisho on their backcast to try and hook up and see what happens
I bet it would sound like this ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ PING !!!
