hey guys im keen on getting a new rod at the moment something for chasing trevally and big flattys on im mostly keen on a shimano brand the reel i will be combining it with will be a 3000 stradic ci4 any opinions would be great thanks guys

Go to your local, find a rod you like and then get it from the cheapest shop delivered. Ray and Annes has a heavy duty 1m7 dropshot for $100, 8-10kg I think. Otherwise from the Shimano stable go for the T-Curve revolution rods.

Hey mate

I had a 3-6kg Daiwa Spellbinder and matched it with a Stradic Ci4 3000, it was a sweet combination in terms of colour and balance. I was planning to use it for big flatties and jewies but never got around to it, i'm sure it will handle all the species you mentioned if you play them right.
