What size Stradic Ci4? 1000 or 2500
Hi all,
I'm looking at getting a Stradic Ci4 when i go over to the US in August. Most of the rods i use are 7 foot, 1-3kg (Lox and Dropshot) and 2-5kg (Trion Tournie). I target mainly bream, flathead, whiting, tailor etc. I was initially thinking of getting the 1000 but the 2500 is around 200g which is fairly light for a reel anyway. Besides being lighter, which can be an advantage, does the 1000 have any other benefits over the 2500? With the 2500, i guess it'll match my rods better, has more drag, more line per crank, more capacity, possibly less windknots and better casting. What you you guys choose? |

If you are going to be targeting all those species i say go with the 2500. As you mentioned the 2500 has plenty of benefits over the 1000 apart from weight.

Even with a 2500, you'll find most of your rods will still be a little tip heavy with it, as they are such a light reel. Will be even more so with the 1000. The 2500 would be the perfect all-rounder.

2500 it is.
From what i've read, the only advtange the 1000 has, is the lighter weight. I guess that only an advantage depending on the rod you're using. Thank all.

The 1000 is slightly lighter, and I beleive smoother then the 2500 size.
If none of that phases you, go the 2500 size. Needless to say, in most estuary's a 1000 size stradic can handle almost anything that comes by. Good luck. |

Go the 2500 on the Lox 7ft.
Only thing I don't like about the ci4 is a slight bit of handle play/wobble.

Just hold the rotor and wind the handle until it tightens. The first time I ever heard of a Stradic handle having "wobble" to it... |

Might be me being picky about it, but it has the same amount of play as my daiwa exceller da 2500. My sol 2000 on the other hand is just perfect with very little play in the handle.

ive got a 1000 on my shimano raider 7ft, and i love it, keeps the outfit nice and light, and has handled every single fish its hooked (biggest up to around 4kg). ive got a few spare spools with everything from 2lb to 8lb on them.
I have a similar setup for the wife but with a 2500, i hate it! its heavier and awkward to use, although im used to my rod so i guess thats why. i considered going bigger to a 2500 for a little more line capacity, but couldnt see the point. |

WHERE DID YOU GET THE SPARE SPOOLS?
seems like they don't exist, really interested in buying a couple. Its either that or buy a SOL. |

or buy a twinpower fc which is roughly the same price as the ci4 now and has 2 spools.
