Shimano Aeronos
The Shimano Aeronos Oceania 2000. Ive gotta say what a great reel!
I picked up a Aeronos Oceania 2000 while I saved up for a Sustain and found it to be a fantasic reel. Great drag and lays the 4 lb fireline without fault. For around 90 beer tickets its money well spent. In my view this reel would be an outstanding beginners reel and a very reasonable price. I notice also that Starlo keeps one in his armoury on the circuit and has expressed similar feelings. What do you guys reckon? |

G'Day Kush,
I've seen a few other reports of that reel, all good. I'm pretty sure I saw a charter/guide type from Melb say he uses them for the clients with good results too.

I paid $89 but as a bonus got a spare spool for free. Please note that this reel doesn't come with spare spool normally.

Kush, I have one of these reels on my 7foot Squidgy rod, it's a great reel for the price, and yes a great reel for those that are just starting out.
I think it is the latest version of the sedona really, which I have on my 6'6" stella. These outfits have proved to be very reliable and while they don't cost a heap they do the job just fine. I too, plan on getting a Sustain in the not too distant future but until then I'm very happy with my choices. Cheers Captain. |

The Aernos Oceania is a brilliant reel.
Really precise performance for the low cost. I bought one as a spare about six months ago, and ended up using it as my primary. So much so, I now have two of them and can afford to be pretty casual with them as they are not worth hundreds of dollars. You do get great value for it, being under $100 bucks, you cant go wrong. If you need a spare reel, this is the one. I bet if you got one you would very happy with it as well. |
