New rod

Hey guys i curently have a few different reels including a shimano ci4 2500, shimano sustain 1000 and a shimano sahara 2500. I have lately been switching my ci4 and sustain using them on my 721 shimano raider 2.

It is my favourite rod by far. Im looking at getting another one the same.
My questions are if you guys find a nice rod do you buy and use several? or are you always trying new gear and should i look for something else around same price range?

Cheers Cody

I like to have a couple of different rods. Mostly for different purposes like longer for casting over flats, shorter for snags in the kayak. Faster action for quickly setting hooks with plastics, slower for absorbing some shock from hits on hard bodies.

But... If you find that rod to suit you perfectly for how you fish, grab another one.

I like to broaden my range of gear instead of just limiting myself to 1 brand. Of-course sometimes i might buy something and find that i don't like the way it handles compared to my current gear, so ill either take it back and get another 1 or get a completely different brand altogether.
Its all personal preference. If you are really happy with the Raider then by all means get another 1, at-least you will know what you are buying and how it should perform.

I have 5 different rods, all by different brands and all for different techniques.
I like having different brands, as I can try and find something that I really like, but at times its annoying as each rods casts slightly different - the Trion performs better with a smooth casting action, yet my mexican raider works best when its given a good flick by some wrist action.
In a perfect world, I would buy 5 of the same brand, and roughly the same length - I'm thinking of buying 5 or so samaki's when I can find a store that stocks a few of the models all together.

Yeah the avatar was a beast of a fish, smallest bream i have ever seen. As modified said it is a pontoon 21 crackjack shallow. Great lures.

My personal preference is to try several brands out, wait till you find something that you're happy with then stick to that. If you're happy with the mexican raider ii, then buy another. Me, I prefer the lox yoshi over the mexican raider ii. The lox is much lighter and can cast light lures further.

One good thing about the raider rods are that they are very happy to bend at funky angles, I don't think you could break one fishing
