Stella 07 FD

Looking at purchasing a 07 Stella 2500FD and I need some opinions on the reel. I have picked one up and used it for a bit a while back, probably 2 years now, felt awesome but it was a 4000FD. I'd like to know how the 2500FD stacks up against its rivals, the Steez/Exist and even the Certate. I have heard many say how it feels very geary, but on the other hand I have heard others say that they are buttery smooth and bloody tough. I have a Steez that I keep for light work, looking at buying a reel that can handle the light stuff, and the heavier stuff too. Can't seem to find any reviews on the reel either, so help me out here guys.

Cheers,

Daiwafreak

The stella is a little weighty at about the 235g mark but 30 grams to some is nothing it is more how it feels on the rod balanced to you.

the stella has more and more drag as you keep turning that knob
and very smooth

how i describe the geary/pressure feeling.
a daiwa rolls around with out any pressure and can feel as though the gear is on the edge of loose , but on the stella there is a little amount of gear pressure but very very smooth when using the reel.the pressure may be the pladin gear.

overall a nice reel to use and enjoyable

Awesome. Just awesome.

Slightly 'geary' turning the handle with the reel only (tighter tolerance, crappy factory lube, whatever), but when paired on a rod - absolutely fantastic.

I have a 2500 FD. The drag is super smooth and goes on forever, could I compare it to a Daiwa Certate .... no, it's not even in the same class as the Stella and my FD does not feel geary at all. Can't comment on an Exist but I've handled a Steez and it felt weak compared to the Stella.

Just a couple of questions, does the spool only click one way? And how do we remove the handle cap thing off? On daiwas, you usually just unscrew it, but my one isn't coming off.

Yeah, only clicks when line is coming off. Don't see the point of making it click both ways.

Might be a little stuck. Comes off like any handle cap.

Shouldn't be that hard really.
Tissue/towel can help if you really need it.

I had the same problem getting the cap off mine, so what I did was got a pair of pliers n a t towel n put the towel over the cap (so it didn't scratch the reel) n then used the pliers to loosen it hope that helps

Tried all of the above, still can't get it off. Just want to put some oil into the other side bearing, but the handle is on the correct side. Thanks for all the help.
