Definitely glass for my money but you may be happy with an ali boat. For $30k you may be able to find one of the earlier Pro Strikes or alternatively a second hand Attack 470. If you want something that can do a bit of offshore work as well then something like the Galeforce boats might be worth a look.
Really it depends if you just want something for Breaming or if you would like something a bit more versatile.

Cheers, Dror

there is a stratos for sale on tournament boats, only $25k but its in melbourne. the extra cash up to your budget should cover the travel expenses to get it.

So when you said you wanted to support local dealers did you mean you want an Aussie made boat or just want a boat that is already in Australia?
My suggestions were based on boats made in this country but if you aren't fussed then it opens up a lot more brands.

Cheers, Dror

I am just about to get my NEW 186 the next step up and they look so much better than the old ones, that boat looks boxy and nasty and fresh water trailor. Thats exspensive too they were cheap as in 2007.You could probably get a new 176XT for under 30k now but long wait trust me I know. I waited 21 weeks. but with different trailor.
