blank selection..
Hey guys,
I'm looking at building another rod, and just wanting a little advice on blank choice. I'm looking at the samaruai premium range or the united composties/hastings range around the 1-3kg mark and would really appreciate some good advice on which model to choose. Thanks

Made a few rods using the 'Samurai' blanks.
They go hard for the buck. Things you should firstly consider; Are you willing to except the facts. I mean, breaking the blank while joining the guides is something I could only refer to as being a *blank* Have you made rods before? Its best to know what you are doing. Not saying that you shouldn't do it if its your first try. I'm just saying practice before trial ![]() PS: Watch for ceiling fans.

You could look at the north fork composite blanks. They have 2 in the UL range a 7' and 6'6".

Gday.
I've built on a few of the Samurai blanks before and have been very happy with the action provided. North Fork are very good, as are St Croix, United Composites and Sabre. Cheers. |

The S842-2MHX is a cracker of a blank, and at the price it can't be beat. I have an S842-2IMX and they firsh virtually identical.... the entire MHX range is worth a look.
The St Croix is the SCIII and the SCIV are also superior blanks. I have also heard some great things about the Phenix range - just waiting for the Oz distributer to get the latest order in and I will go and have a play.....

blank selection
I've just built a BR203 which is 2-6lb.I purchased it at my local tackle shop. But I've brought the guides and handle kit from Mudhole USA anhd saved quite a few dollars. Whatever blank you choose ensure you get the recipe from Frogleys for that particular blank.
The BR203 was the second Samurai that I built and I'm extremely happy with their blanks. |
