daiwa tierra spin reel

i am wondering how these reels go. i am thinking of getting one from america.
2000 size for bream. i dont want a really expensive one as i am fairly rough on gear and fish really tight trout scrub alot so anything expensive might break with this sort of water

so any comments on this reel would be great.

cheers mitch

Had one awhile back say year and a half ago, was pretty happy with it overall, although it did have one flaw sticky drag. Not to worry though! I replaced the washer's (just the felt one's) Got the washer's outta me' old stradic cut em' to size and popped em in! And from then on smooth sailing I dont know if this problem is for all tierra's, i might've just been mine.

Cheer's, matt.

.. that's a pretty big flaw ... might be better off just getting a stradic.

have a read through these mate, should give you a better idea. tierras are cheap off ebay atm though

I think the stradic's have got some flaw's too. I know of numerous people including me have had the clicker's break on the stradic's within the first week.

I have a 3000 Tierra and I think it's a great reel. I got it second hand a year ago and since then it's been up north batching spangleds, small GT's, Queenies, etc as well as a couple of big snapper locally with some good tailor thrown in the mix... Still going strong but you can feel its had a tough life as you could expect form any well used reel.

From there you could assume the 2000 would be good also. See if you can find the newer model with the round foam knob as it will be much more comfortable.

Personally I would be hesitant to buy from overseas but I know a lot of people do with no dramas.

Hope this helps mate,

Replaced a couple of old Shimano reels with Daiwa's a couple of weeks ago, 1 of them being the Tierra 2000, the other a SOL, very happy with both so far. My 10 yr old fished the Tierra Sunday for some nice 40cm to 60cm flatties running 6lbfireline crystal and 10lb leader on softies. Weekend before, got nice bass on the surface in the Gorge with the same reel.

I actually matched the Tierra reel with the 2-4kg Tierra Rod, nice combo.
Very Happy so far !
