Comparing Certates.

Just bought a 2004 Certate finesse (2009) from $399 Brand New
Trying to work out if there is a major difference performance wise between the new and old one.
Wouldn't mind hearing some words from people who have owned/own both of these reels.
Hopefully it will arrive either tommorrow or friday arvo.
before the weekend

cheers.

Thats the only down side, was considering the 2010 Certate (original) but for some reason the finesse stood out.
Also being the last lot of certate finesse 2009 models in Australia. It means I got it bulk cheap
Pretty happy about that, thats for sure.

from what I have heard overall, the older model certates were pretty much flawless. The new model seems to be screwing up a fair bit for a few people I know. Whether it be the drag screwing up, the bail arm seizing, and other issues, there just seems to be some bad batches. The first one I received would completely screw up the line lay just by reeling.

That said, the second one I got after I returned the first one, has been flawless and has been my favourite reel ever. i rate them above the Steez ( not on looks though).

Ive used the older certates and they are bloody nice as well, but I just love the new 2010 model! has served me well for almost half a year, and I hope it continues to do so!

Fair interested to see what people reckon about this as well.

Wanting another 25xx for summer and although the new models seem sick, aside from weight I haven't heard a bad word about the old finesses and for 400 bucks on mo's at the moment it seems my best option for the cash.

Won't just be a bream reel...

I have the certate finesse custom 2506 (09) and it's the best light reel I have ever used and for the price (I got mine for 299) can't get much better IMO ..

new certates are cool but you HAVE to send them to daiwa to be serviced as daiwa wont release the tool needed to take apart/remove the mag seal apparently which is a pretty massive downer in my books as from past experience they can have your reel for months just for a basic service. and have heard that the drag in the new certates is seriously average in terms of going really lumpy really quick

Unfortunatly Daiwa Australia is one of the worst run companies around when it comes to servicing and parts replacement in my opinion. Took 7 months before I demanded my reel back (still not fixed) after I cracked the rotor and needed a replacement.

They need a good kick up the bum when it comes to keeping thier promises and customer service!

i sent a sol 2000 to them quite a while ago now just for a basic service as it just sounded a bit rough and 4 months later it was returned with no work done to it? sent a reel to shimano the other day to have the bail replaced after it was stood on and had it back to me by the end of the same week all fixed up for no charge

They definatly need to be replaced as they are letting down thier customer base. I hope Daiwa Japan get wind and do something about it.

The old finesse is heaps smoother I have 2 of both and the old one is better but they where exspensive when they first came out. They are worth more than the new ones in my opinion. Drag is so different one is near silent and smooth as and the other is slightly lumpy and noisy

certate

I would go 2009 certate finesse if you can get one,to tell you the truth i am dissapointed with 2010 certate, and dont get me started on daiwa service i ordered a bearing and it took 2 months. Now i need 2 reels serviced and i am hesitant to send off,and when it comes to bearings shimano seem to be way better, they last for ages.

Never knew Daiwa Australia was such a pain to deal with. From now, I've only ever seemed to recall one issue with daiwa and that was a while ago. Judging by what I've heard. I'll be better off dropping my reels of at the local tackleshop to get serviced...
Also, just wondering if anyone finding it hard to contact DohDohDohDohDohDohDohDoh? I can't seem to get hold of them after 5 phonecalls over 2 days.
