and its an SW. and comes with an large 'mansized' handle. and if we know anything about the NT it is that it requires a real man to take it on. and the stellar has the goods. not to mention a (quote me if i'm wrong) a 25kg drag system and paladin gearing.... do you still need convincing?

alternatively get a Daiwa Saltiga Dogfight.....

did think about the dogfight, but dont really wanna buy saltiga atm, only because they will be superseded shortly, if the secrecy veil is ever lifted over at daiwa.
plus i've never owned a stella sw before
dunno if this has been covered in the past, prob has and if so sorry, but how do the sizes relate b/w daiwa and shimano in their big reels. ie what is an 8000 in daiwa speak?
cheers guys

do it....

yessss.......do it
anything up in the NT is big so your going to need a beefy reel to do it
but i would suggest not to get the 8000swpg and just go for the 8000sw because you have a faster ratio which you will be needing for the mackies and stuff like that and if your doing some jigging aswell you will need to have a fast gear ratio

cheers
Nic

jigging has nothing to do with speed, low speed/gear = better control and movement of jig and more power to whinch fish of a reef, look at sw 20000 and expedition, both are 4.9:1 or below and they are shimano/daiwa's jigging reels. i would go pg, it is still a massive reel which returns over a meter of line per turn of the handle but the low gear gives you more power or torque on big fish in nasty places. and 8/10000 is near on exactly the same as daiwa/saltiga 4500

I'd get a S.Extreme 6500 tough as bling bling bling and not over priced and a matching Rod ... Or an Expedition 6500 greet reels

stella 8000swpg it is.
i think 6500 might be overkill, maybe, and to be honest (and maybe a bit picky!!) i dont really like the color scheme of the new saltigas, i think its just a bit too much on the eye.
silvers and blues are much nicer i reckon.
maybe 6500 in the future for when i make some trips south, next year if the new large saltigas come out
so much stuff so little time
