New Jewel and Supreme mg Combo

Hey Guys, just bought a new 1-4kg Jewel Rod and a 8030 Pfluger Supreme MG for the breambos and bass that will hopefully be caught this summer. Im new to spinning as iv been a baitcaster all my life so just wondering if i need to take any extra precautions with the setup or cleaning etc. Cheers

Right, I can't speak for the rod but I can most certainly speak for the reel... Baby it, baby it a LOT. Wipe down + inox after EVERY trip, regularly service it. Take special care of the rotor and roller bearings.

Not a bad reel providing you treat it like an infant.

yeah if you get a chip, cover it in clear nail polish, or else it will corrode if its anywhere near the salt.
when you clean it, also, tighten the drag to lock to stop water getting in there, but after its been cleaned dont forget to back the drag off or it could squash some of the components.
nice reel anyway, you'll love it

Mine had a couple of chips and to be honest, they didn't rust. Where I did have issue was on the gold coloured bit around the handle 'hole' (correct term is what?) and the same gold coloured peice over the top of the drag knob.
It's a common issue with pflueger reels.. Both of my Medalists, both supremes and my torsion are all the same in that manner.

Also, don't be shocked if your drag clicker suddenly stops making noise. I had 2 clickers and one clicker spring go in the space of a few months. Leads me to believe it's a fairly common thing. I never really missed the sound too much though.
