I would also be interested in peoples opinions about this this reel. The specs and price seem good.

just been looking at the ratio its 5.1 and the 1000 weighs 239grams not the greatest ratio but makes up with the 11 bearings in it...
but still... would be nice to hear opinions, or people who have used the reel..

They weigh a lot! I think my friend had the 2nd smallest model and compared to my Luvias (2500) it felt like a block of lead lol. Other than that a very nice looking and smooth reel.

I don't have the soron, but do have a 802 cardinal which looks like it is based on the same body, less bearings though.

Very solid reel. The drag is awesome. At least the equal of a sol or stradic.
The line roller on my 802 is noisy but still works. They are heavier than 2000 sol but they are slightly bigger too. Closer to a shimano 2500 in size, not quite as large as a 2500 daiwa.

I'd rate it as better value than similar priced Daiwa Shimano's, but not quite as good as a Sol ( but the sol is about $120 more).

As a big plus the handle screws into the main gear to make a really solid connection. I much prefer this system to the hexagonal shaft that slides through main gear of the Sol. I will look for this on future reel purchases

the weights issues i think is because of the X-cräftic alloy construction, and a rubber based coating in the paint (rubber always adds weights), also the larger size...
