2 Piece G-Loomis?

Hi!

I was just wondering if anybody knows of any good 2 piece G-Loomis rods that would be good for chasing bream and bass? My budget for this rod is around $300

I had a look around some US online tackle stores, but all i could find was 1 piece rods, which would be too hard to transport for me.

thanks!
Alex

They're about $430.. most Loomis two piece spin rods are around the $400 mark.

I've Googled the dsr 8200, and ive come up with this website: http://tackleware.cart.net.au/details/2480555.html

I think the 2 piece is called the dsr 8200 - 2, which is going for $430

I could probably just save up a little bit more money for this rod, as long as its worth it

Alex,

As EJ Todd finished up as the sole Loomis distributor in Australia a few months back they fire saled all there stock to the retail shops, should be able to shop around and get a fair discount, I know my local shop had them marked down as he got a whole bunch of rods at a great price.

both the dsr8200-2 and the sr842-2 would be good, have used them both and they are both awsome.

like previously said, shop around, mega good sales on loomis at the moment but it wont last long now that loomis is in shimano's hands

Love My SR842-2 prob my Fav stick. If I was only allowed one rod this is the best breamin allrounder for Soft and Hard applications (just my preference).
They should be cheaper now that the Aust Distributers of Loomis have revised thier expeditor programm and basically given Loomis owners a big up yours.

Thanks for your replies!

So I was going to aim for the dsr8200-2, which is $430 on DohDohDohDohDohDohDohDoh, but then i had a look at TackleWarehouse (USA) and they have the GLX version of the dropshot for around $430 AUD as well. The only problem would be that this is a one piece rod.....

So would it be worth it to go for the GLX version of this rod, or should i just stick to the two piece dropshot? I'm going to see today if my 7 foot trion will fit in the back of the car, so a one piece might be ok to transport.

The glx dsr is a phenomenal plastics rod. Not the prettiest but by a mile best I have ever used. If you want to fish plastics, get this rod.

I have owned the sr842-2 in imx, and they are good rods. From the mouth of an ex pro staffer, there is little difference between the imx and glx versions of that rod.

If you want the ultimate allrounder made, period, get the tsr 862-2 in glx.

2 piece, crisp enough to fish plastics without feeling like you have to slam super hard to make sure you set hooks, but forgiving enough to fish crankbaits. Sick rod for fishing 3lb straight through, but loads up awesome and can pull pretty bloody hard when you need it to. Spend the little extra, its only the sacrafice of a couple weekends on the piss. If you want one all round bream rod this is it.

Thanks for all your help guys!

I've actually realised that my fishing rod budget may be a bit lower than I once thought, due to a few other expenses that need to be paid, so I think that a GLX rod might be a bit out of reach for me at this stage.

So ... ( very last question i swear! ) would i be better off in getting a:

TSR801-2 Rod IMX ( $285 USD from American Legacy )
or the SR842-2 IMX ( $325 USD from American Legacy )

Keeping in mind that this will mostly be used to bass and bream

Thanks for all your help!

Sr. Tsr801 is a bit of a noodle in glx and I can only imagine that it would be noodlier in imx.

The dollar is cranking at the moment though man, for another hundred bucks you will have something you will keep for years....

Either way im sure you will be stoked.

Matt is correct in theres little diff in the IMX to the GLX for teh SR842-2 in terms of action, it just slightly lighter and a weeeee bit crisper.
Have not felt the TSR862-2 So I'd go on Matts advice ther if he felt all of them.
Also I fish teh Docks in Melb alot and the main retireve here is a jerky shaky retrieve which a balances rod is a boneu and the SR842-2 balances well with reels between 200 grams and 170grams. Not many other 7 footers do that. The additional 2 inches of the 862 may affect this (not sure) and if your not gettin jiggy with it then unbalanced outfits are not that critical.

Agree with matt on the $100 bucks more theory.
