Do you mean the lighter the combo the better (weight in hand) or the lighter the line the better (breaking strain)?

I would agree with both statements.

I think a rough translation would be;

"TELL me in YOUR opinion WHY the lighter the leader, the better"

Well I personally find that using a thin leader makes a big difference in still or clear water. What alot of people don't consider is the thickness of the leader they use. A good quality 6lb may be the same diameter as 4lb of a lower quality. Higher tensile strength is a big advantage!

And yes... the lighter the leader, the better, assuming it is still appropriate for the structure and species you are fishing. Ive had plenty of sessions where i couldnt get bream to take a plastic using an #8 FC leader, and yet and soon as i downsized to #4 im on. Yep, more bustoffs, but more action also.

He may have missed the "m" in front of "y".

Vlad- to me in y opion the lighter the leader the better .
**To me in my opinion the lighter the leader, the better**
... seems more reasonable?

Say what?

Ok, I think you are asking what poundage of line to use around certain kind of structure. Am I right?
If so, Probably go 4lb MAX around sand banks. Considering there are no real structure they can run to. If there are alot of rocks with barnacle and oysters etc. Better of going up to 6lb and starting from there.
Around fallen tree's probably 6-10lb to really get them out of the structure before they get you first. Oyster racks, never fished them. Really want to, but going by video's that I have watched you can't really prepare yourself. Bream can often snap 15lb around structured places like that so I'd probably take a wild guess and go 8-16lb.
But normally, 6lb would be my most comfortable weight in line management.
I guess its all depends on how good you are at finessing fish away from structure.

hth's,
