Leader Line

Hey Guys,

I have a general question...I am running 6lb braided line with a 8lb leader line... Is that good for bream. If not what is the best combination.

Cheers

i dont normally use over 4lb line and leader for bream. maybe 6lb leader.
i have used 10lb line once and i just believe its an overkill.

you would use heavier leader if they were capable of running your line around pylons or rock reef or similar structure

Depends where you're fishing - At least with 8 pound leader you can usually pull in decent by catch as well.

I usually fish around cabbage Tree Creek at Shorncliffe. The hardest part atm is trying to tie the knot from the leader line to the lure clips ha ha..any suggestions on knots that are strong

Cheers

I wouldn't go any higher than 6lb, but is does depend on water clarity and if you are fishing structure.

When I do chase bream, which isn't all that often, I'll use a 6lb leader, very occasionally 4lb.

the lighter the leader the more fish hooked but more fish lost, the heavier the leader the less fish hooked and more landed if u know what i mean, so you need to find the balance for where u are fishing, ie racks pylons where you can get busted off, go a little heavier, flats and such go lighter as there is no structure to be wrapped around...
