Diagnostic Stradic 2500FH
Hi all,
I have an old 2500FH Stradic that I haven't touched in ages. It still runs nice and smooth, but I cannot use it comfortably as there is a huge amount of play in the handle (rocks back and forward about 2cm before turning the rotor). Rather than let it gather dust, would I be correct in assuming I may only need a new drive gear or pinion gear as that's what's causing the play? Or could the problem be something more? Just not sure whether it is worth trying to get it working better than get a new FI Stradic (which to me is better with the screw-in handle, etc). Thanks

Do you mean tighten the screw holding the handle in? If so then yea I have tried that, it doesn't matter how tight it is screwed, it still has that 2cm of play in the handle. I'm hoping it's just one thing that I can just find a replacement part (assuming you can still get replacement parts...) otherwise I'm not going to bother.

nah mate, it's still the same. I have got a 2500FI now that I took up and kept the FH as a spare only. After plenty of great fish on the FI, it still runs smooth without a problem so will probably not bother sorting the FH out anymore.
By the way, 7kg drag and 16lb Varvias braid is still not enough to stop 60cm+ Spango's finding the bommie over 50% of the time!! 3-6kg Jewel may also need to be upgraded once more to something a little stiffer.. Not that it helps when the fish can easily drag the kayak around as well no matter how tight the drag is!
