E21 Carrot Gold Stix Cast.

Hey guys,

Just came across this rod and if memory serves me right the spin model costs about $400-$500.
But, its a baitcaster model and its on sale for $199. Is this a good price? From the comments it seems like a great rod.
Any info on this would be great.
cheers,

Heres a link.

From what I heard they are not good. It is never made of carrot fibre, and the finishing is not that great. I remember there are two level in the states, normal and the Gold whatever.... Gold is about US$200+ , against its from my bad memory

Oh really?

There were just alot of people saying "they are better then loomises for half the price". Also, I did come across a review about one saying the apoxy and thread wraps were of very poor quality and that the colour fades and tears after a few weeks. So, yea I guess it goes to show that what people say isn't 100% true.
Well thanks for the insight, IsoKaze.
cheers,

I can't comment on the baitcast models exept for the salty carrot which is not available in Australia. But I have used the 4-10lb Original and 8-17lb Gold rods and rate them very highly.

The rods are super responsive and have excellent pulling power. You can feel absolutely everything through the blank. The only complaint I have is from a deisgn standpoint is that the hook keeper on the rod should face the other way. A minor concern since maybe 1 in 200 casts see the line catch in the keeper and scare the crapper out of you.

For $200 you should seriously consider the rod.

I had a play with them in a tackle shop and they are alright, don't look that nice though... Just remember that price is $199USD excluding shipping.

Cheers,

But isn't that $200 us plus postage to OZ, which would be closer to $300.

One thing for sure is they freight fast, I bought a couple of rods from them a few years back and it was here in 4 days. From memory 2 rods cost the same to post as one and fit in the same heavy duty container.

Regards,

Mate,

When i can afford to get a collection of rods a Carrot Stix rod is definitely on the list. All the reviews i have read have given them thumbs up. Some people dont like the look, personally i like it because its different.

Good luck with it.

Yeah, nothing new there... the guy who wrote it is full of himself, goes by the name of Breamingwithboys or something on the forums.

Glad to see someone read my review though

pretty sure it's rimmingwithboys
anyway i know a couple of people who use them and they seem to like them alot, pretty sure that they come with adjustable butt weights as well so balancing it with your reel shouldn't be too much hassle.

That's the guy, dodgy looking dude. Hangs out with a shady character called tackleback under the king street bridge.

Friend of yours Patrick?
