Lure wieghts??

Does anyone know how the lure weight a rod can throw is measured coz I've got an old diawa rod that I use and it's rated to 7- 14 grams but can cast a 1gram really well as I'm looking for a new rod I was wondering if it is relevent any help would be great thanx

Cool lighter rods

lighter rod from 1-3 kg or 1-9grams luer weight are designed to cast smaller lures 2grms,3grms and so on it is also the action of the rod that makes the lure work accuratly so bear in mind if your usung 4lb crystal fire line.and a 1000 or 1500 or 2000 reel .

hevier rod weights such as yours i think it a 3-5kg rod or a 3-6kg rod are desiegned to cast heeavier lure from 7-14grms the action in the rod is for those lures .that makes the lures work so well .i hope this has helped .
