Emeralda's Questions.

Hey guys,

Just a few question on this topic.

1. What is the regular retail price for this reel. I see them for $449 then I see them for $750 at different sites. Also I'm refering to the newer pearl white model.

2. Is it worth it weight in gold. Would you buy it, or would you put it aside.

3. As someone on here has mentioned to me that after his 1st fish it started grinding. Have anyone else had this issue with the emeralda's.

Thanks,

-Pivot-

Im looking at getting a new reel when the tax cheque comes in and heres how I see it.
The Emeraldas is a 2506 with 9 bbs and is the $449 pearl white one .
The Emeraldas Colossal is a 2508 with 12 bbs and is the $700 black one.
The most important thing about these reels are that they have Hyper digigear drive in them. This is the same drive system as the saltiga.
Its the cheapest reel with Hyper Digigear.
The Steez has digigear 11, same as Sol/Caldia, Certate, Luvius.

The conclution that I came up with is -
In the $200-$300 bracket, I'd get the Sol coz its the same as the Caldia but you get a spare spool.
In the $400 - $500 bracket, I'd get the Emeraldas coz of the stronger gearing.
Only by what I've come up with so far. Would be good to hear from more points of veiw though.

Luvias are made in Thailand. And some people might back me up on this, but they are hard to crack.

My old man just bought one of the Emeraldis' for $400, I was talking to my local tackle 'Dealer' Today and he said that the cheaper one doesn't have CRBB's, so that and if it is made outside of Japan would be BIG no no's for me.......
It won't matter, the Old man never listens anyhow.

Bream Miagi was selling 6 Exists at the time he bought the Emeraldis
IMO, a second hand Exist in great nic is better than any of the others brand new for the money......

Good luck with your reel mate, but if you want brand new, for $500 you could get the new Certate with all of the trimmings and fluid drive {or whatever the new system is called}.
Cheers.

emeraldas definetly has CRBB or something equivalent
being designed as an eging reel for use in SW it would be pretty silly to not put in corrosion resistant bearings

They have come down lately in price because now daiwa australia have brought them in as a stock reel, before only shops that did special orders with daiwa japan had them

I highly doubt the Emeraldis is a full CRBB reel.....
it may have a couple, but I doubt all 9 are.

The Daiwa site says "9 stainless steel ball bearings inc. CRBB ball bearing"....Whatever that means.
I guess if they're stainless steel, they're not gonna rust.
mmmmm Hyper Digigear.......

they're good. because of the gearing they are not quite as smooth and noisier than the certates though. then again, they are still damn smooth and an awesome reel.

If I remember its 9 BB + 4 CRB..Although I may be wrong. But I've been thinking going to a certate. Even though it is the "flavour of the month" I guess I could settle for it,...Although the look of the emeraldas is so damn amazing
