Daiwa Steez 2500/New Certate 2500

Hey everyone,
thinking about one of these reels soon, wondering if the Steez is ok for light Salt ater applications, Tarpon, Jacks etc, would primarily be used for southern Bass trips and Sooties though, or if anyone has given the new Certates a good run on a serious fish? Let us know what you think.

yeah mate,
the steez is sweet in the salt and the 2500 would suit you pretty well, you could even go a 2508 if you wanted. plus the reel looks sexy as hell.
the new certate however, is a bit cheaper but also looks the goods.
imo i dont think you can make a basd choice in either

cheers

Hey mate,

I saw a deal for the new model Daiwa Certate + a daiwa Luvias rod for a price of $649 + postage. DOn't know about you but they retail the reel alone for about $700- $750.
If you're interested here's the link.http://www.rayannes.com.au/daiwa-shi...os-only-649ea/

Thanks fellas, was lookin at 2508, but a recent flats trip made me think a 2500 in case i hook a decnt pelagic on the lighter line, just want line capacity, i have a custom rod in progress for it, its guna look sexy as, was just worried as a few people have mentioned Steezes are no good in salt, good to know they are. Would prefer a steez for lightness, dont care about the cost, would go exist, but dont know what extra im getting for the dosh, think Steez will be perfect.

Hey mate, ,

the new certates retail closer to 500, not 700, unless you were talking about as a combo with the luvias rod

ISS A SQUID,

If you look at it spec wise, the 2500 is 5 grams lighter with extra line capacity. For the style of fishing it sounds like you will be doing, why not get the 2500 for an extra 5 grams, thats pretty much insignificant.

I do however, reccommend the new certate. It is cheaper, but is very good and extremely smooth and the line lay is brilliant. Although I cant say I have caught queenies on it, as they are not accessible from victoria, haha, I can say I have caught carp to 90cm, salmon up to a few kilos, bream to 40cm, blah blah. It has handled them all perfectly. The drag sounds awesome!

Also, the certates feel much more durable, and if I was to drop mine I dont think it would shatter, where as the steez's seem a bit more fragile ( not saying they are of course).

Seeing as price isnt an issue though, maybe go with the 2500 steez, but the new certates are definitely up there in my books and are very very nice to use and look at.

As mentioned, you cant go wrong with either, and Im sure you will be happy with either reel

Mate have used my Steez's for the past 13-14 months with no drama's at all. Just wash & inox/tackle guard them after every use and you wont have a problem.

I recently got a new Certate 3000 for medium saltwater use, it's extremely light and smooth. Hopefully I'll put it to the test on some big fish up at Hinchinbrook in the coming weeks, I'll let u know how it performs.

not sure if you have made the decision, but...

I got a steez 2508, and boy they are nice. However, I would rate them roughly on par with the new certate. And so because of the price difference, the certate would be my go. If money was no issue, then the steez
