2lb fluro??

i have been fishing this for a while now and have found my strike rate had improved ten fold over heavy leaders such as 6 pound...now that this has happended i have rarely gone back to anything heavier..wich makes me wonder if it works or is it a mind set thing.. because i fish the murry so often with that comes the ever so fun bust off rate on the rise aswell... does any one find that 2lb leader is really that nessecary for example... clear day same cast, same lure but different leader by 4lb do u think that the fish will not strike a the same lure simply becuase of the leader??

it can happen, ive had a few days on tweed when u can watch fish follow your lure the whole length of the cast and no matter what sort of action you impart on the lure they wont feed, fish 2lb straight through and hook up first cast, so personally i reckon its good stuff but i only fish it in areas where i know i have a higher chance of landing the fish against a bust off

I use to run 2lb straight thru, while IMO it didn't improve catch result as I was fishing the dirty brisbane river it was fun to use and resulted in more of a challenge to land bream.

If I was interested in landing bream for brag rights I wouldn't be using less than 4lb, Any leader under 6lb is clear enough. If the bream likes the lure retrieve, lure, action ect ect it will eat it if its on 2lb or 6lb.

i am takin for the murry river WA just for a bit of info cause u boys are from over east water is real patchy in terms of clarity, fish are spooky and generally sitting right on structure wich is extremely heavy in the murry from jettys to huge trees.. so allowing for the most clearest water in the system would be the best thing to do logically.. but is 2lb overdone can they see it less then 4?

I really can't see the point in going down to 2lb in the Murray. The fish are angry and tend to be close to structure so it doesn't seem worth getting the bites if there is almost no chance of landing them.
I never use anything smaller than 6lb in there and it has never been an issue. Even during summer when the water it at it's clearest it is still not crystal clear.
It could be argued that you might get a small percentage more takes on the lighter line but I think I would rather know that I can get the ones to the boat that I hook.

yer cheers dror it does seem a bit pointless (i lost $100 worth of lures on the weekend

..) yer i probably should bump it up to six.. as fish were fairly aggresive this weekend were liking all most any thing i threw at them..but were still really close to structure.. but i managed to get a 44 the other week on 2lb ass or class im thinkin more ass.. also wondering have u ever got many away from the heavy structure of the murry in places like flats? in the murry i know the drop offs produce but never seem to be the greatest of size like the ones around the jetties and snags..

Nup can't say I have. Pretty much every fish I have ever caught in the Murray has been tight in to structure whether it's snags or jetties or rocks. They really love to come out and smash a lure and instantly bury you back in their homes. I think that's why I love those fish so much.

Maybe try upping the leader to 3lb then 4, 5 and then 6. Its just a confidence thing I reckon. Need to tell yourself you dont need to use 2lb to get the bites... Have a few sessions with 3lb and once your confident with that, go to 4lb and see how that goes. That is of course if your fishing structure where you really shouldnt be using 2lb.

i have to addmit i have been using 15pound mono and yet have caught my biggest bream,but it happened when i was flathead fishing i was spuing my guts that it wasnt on my bream stick .but after a few minutes i thought to myself ah what a blesing 37.5cm bream.
