help! need a cheap spinning reel for lures

Hey guys,

My girlfriend just got an awesome deal on a starlostick tournament pro, and were looking to put a small 1500-2000 size reel on it, however we need one under 100 bucks.

Have been looking around but just cant find one I like ( forget what she likes!)

Were going to be running 8lb braid on it as well, and would prefer something quite light.

Any suggestions would be really appreciated as we need a reel on the rod for an upcoming trip.

If you hunt around, you can probably find a Daiwa exceller 1500/2000 for about $100.

Yep a Shimano Sienna FD. $69 for 1000, $79 for 2500.

Daiwa RegalZ would be under $100 and a great little reel 1500 size.
Also a Shimano FX 1500 is about 50 bucks.

As posted the Sienna 1000 is nice and light or for something a bit more beefy then the Daiwa Cy with Digi are pretty good...all of the 100 though.

Go the Shimano Slade....... my first breamin reel and still going strong.....has handled some pretty good fish and lives on my flats stick. Super light and for the price i can't fault it

I just set my missus up in a similar way and got a 1000 size sienna on a catana for $100 so my vote is for the Sienna.

My good mate uses a slade, he likes it. I've cast it a bunch of times and for that price you get a nice little reel, the only thing I can't really comment on is it's life span, as he's not a week in week out angler.

I got my girl a Okuma femme fatale around the 70 buck mark
seems to be a great little reel , I have even landed a 9 pound trout on it and handled it well ....plus its PINK!!

Sienna is the next model up from the slade, but both reels go good. IMO I'll go sienna had mine for about 2 and a half years still going strong

Breaming with joy, yeah mate second hand is definitely an option, the rod was second hand as well.

Thanks for all your input guys. I looked at the sienna yesterday and thought it was going to be my best option, looks like thats the case.
I reckon id go the sienna over the slade as well, however I will have to compare the two in person.

Unless breamingwithjoy has a second hand option?
