hey everyne,
I have recently bought a daiwa red back 4-8lb rod. I was just wanting some feedback on the rod and how you think it performs.
thanks, Joel

Nice light, crisp, fast tapered reponsive rod made from IM7 graphite. Fuji alconite guides for increased casting and less heat build up. They have a nice cast and are great for light flicking. However it will all depend on what reel and line you match it up with.

I've got the 6-10lb TD Sol, which is quite similar... Very pleased with it.

Yeah np mate. Stradic 2500 is nice reel. 2 cold forged aluminium spools, paladin gearing is is also cold forged aluminium gear with hardened brass pinion. The bearing are shielded anti rust bearings and the drag is capable of dealing up to 7kg of drag with it's waterproof carbon washers. I use a stradic 8000 for a bit of lbging and has never let me down yet. Oh yeah, make good use of the maintenance port which is a cap located above the handle which is opened by a normal screwdriver. A few drops of good quality shimano oil every couple of weeks will keep your reel in great shape.
Td Sol is a nice rod aswell. It has a higher modulous graphite aswell as fuji SIC guides hence the extra $100-150 price tag depending on where you shop.

Since only DohDohDoh sell red backs, I take it you got it from your local DohDohDoh. I know DohDohDoh has been trying to clear out their Sol's to make room for the new Sol type 2 which is why you might not have come across one there.

I have had two in that same line class both broke due to my fault, very versatile rods fast action which is ideal for fishing hard bodies and in tight structure highly recomend them, i paired them with a sol if that helps.

Correct... I picked up my Sol on clearance at $199.. Couldn't pass it up. With a 205g reel (plus the weight of line) the balance point is about 3" from the reel leg.. Can flick it around all day and not get a tired wrist!
