Question whats up with daiwa

Why does my old Daiwa Theory 2000(no Digigear or silent oscillation cost $180) feels smoother and has no gear noise compaired to my new sol 200 and Kix custom 2508

I've found the bearing in the line roller on Daiwas won't last under heavy salt water use, even if it is CRBB and oiled regularly. I've been getting info that greasing the bearing is actually far better for preventing corrosion. I'd have a guess at that being the reason for most reels which sound noisy.

Easy way to tell is does it make noise only when retrieving line, or does it do it when the line isn't rigged up and you're simply rotating the handle?

This "grindy" feel has happened to all my Daiwa's. Some after a lot of use, some after very little.

I'm now buying more and more Shimano stuff.

I was a big fan of Daiwa from the age of 13 to the age of 28. Unfortunately Daiwa has fallen in quality in my opinion. My Daiwa reels have all but crapped out, so I've made a move to a different brand. I've been using Pflueger reels and have found them to be extremely good.

yep, my Sol2000 makes that noise. Placed an order form for quote online to Daiwa over a week ago for some parts for my Sol and a Laguna, no reply yet so I sent it again today.
All I can say is if it were Shimano,I'd have the bits by now and the reels would be working properly again.

I really do like Daiwas range of spinning reels but I'm loosing patience with them.
Bought a Shimano Stradic ST1000FI and apart from the gear ratios being too quick for HBs, I like it a lot.

Never had an issue with Daiwa infact they sent me a part free of charge some time back so IMO fantastic service, they are the leaders in reel technology world wide and it's generally Daiwa who are at the forefront of innovation etc

All reels require general maintence and care whether it be a Ryobi 7500 or a Daiwa Steez 2506. Out of the four Daiwa reels, i have only ever had one that was running a liitle rough. I sent Daiwa Australia an email, and i got a response the next day.

I was advised on what process to take in order to get the Reel to them. And bang... had my reel back the next week complete with the old part removed (proof of service). This was under warranty and there was no charge for the repairs nor for the return postage.

Would most certainly buy another Daiwa reel, but i understand that each to there own, and this is a public forum to voice opinions.

For me Daiwa all the way

I have nothing but praise for daiwa aus ....

I agree that at times daiwa service is frustratingly slow....
but you think about the amount of product they have out there.....keeping on top of warranty work would be a nightmare

Sometimes it takes 6 weeks....sometime it takes a week.....and mostly fixed for free I might add.....you just have to be patient....
Line roller bearings are certainly a wear area and hard to service without taking the spool off and liberally applying inox spray into the bearing housing to wash out the snot. Every so often I take mine apart and cleaned off the fibres and old lubricant.
