Stradic 4000
Just picked up a Stradic on special for $249. Checked out a few others like the Daiwa Sol that felt very nice as well. The Shimano was in my price range and I had a double handled Stradic 1000 from the early 90's that lasted a pretty long time so I was pretty confident I got a decent reel.
My question is how much 10 lb braid would I be able to get on it and what is a good braid to put on it ? I'm going to use it for a few things like beach spinning, snapper SP and heavier estuary lure fishing. I'll probably put 14lb braid on the spare spool. I've only ever used Fireline before. Any advice would be appreciated. |

In my opinion you cant go wrong with some Sunline Super PE and according to mo'tackle you will be able to fit 200 yards of 10lb line on the 4000

Thats for mono..
I have just under 300m of 15lb rovex braid on my 4000 shimano. I could probably fit the whole 300m spool but did not want to go right to the rim. 10lb braid... I like fireline myself, I use sunline for breaming and its great but fireline is less likely to knot up in windy conditions such as at the beach. Rovex braid is good for this too and its a true braid. |

Thanks mate . So I should get around 300 meters of 10 lb braid on my reel.
I wasn't too sure about what brand to get as there are so many. Thanks again. |

Finns lasts quite a while in the salt. Good knot strength too.

I'll remember that thanks. One thing I do know is that 300 meters of braid aint cheap

I ended up getting 300 meters of Finns 10lb braid and it was a little too much for the reel.
I then went and tried it out using a grasshopper squidgy fish for 2 nice bream and a flattie. Not enough to make the reel sing but a good start.
