hey mate... at eco park I used my own hooks (rather than the supplied ones) ... size 16-ish gar-fish sized hooks were getting them every cast. They give you 2 pellet sizes there... 1 small as burley, the other a bigger pellet for bait. I used the burley as bait on the small hooks and hooked up non-stop. If you use the hooks supplied, they'll eye it off and won't take the bait.
If you fish in the silvers pond, try and catch the spanglies, take them live and use them in the sooty pond to catch a sooty... the guy there was nice enough to tell us to do that and helped us.
Hope that helps.

I hit barra park once and made the nooby mistake of taking only typical barra tackle and lures which won't work there unless there's some newly released fish in the ponds or you get them when they are really firing.

Best off taking the bream gear and finessing them.

the park owner just got us to hook the spanglies through the back just behind the dorsal (pretty much like any live baiting).
Oh yeah.... go unweighted. You don't need to cast out far at all for the barcoo grunters or silvers there. And the spanglies are enough weight to get them out there up against the lilly pads in the sooty pond.

my favourite lures at the barra farm are mini micro mullets in black, lost my last one to a 70cm plus barra there, i also like to use the 2 inch swimming mullet with a 1/20 jighead and bounce it along the bottom slowly last time i was there i picked up a 60cm flattie on the swimming mullet. also squidge fish in 80 mm with 1/8 jigheads or slickrigs about 80mm go very good at the barra farm i just went there on saturday hopefully i put some pics up soon.
heres some pics of the ones last time, no real big fish i only use 4 lb braid and 6 lb vanish for leader.

yer you could give them a try but they dont tend to hit normal barra lures they prefer smaller stuff as they are use to hitting pellets

oh right.... if you do end up bringing tiny garfish hooks you'll get the spanglies on them too. Just use the small burley pellets.
