Infeet or Sol
Hi guys,
I'm need to upgrade my Stradic... Budget is $200 to $300 (read: $Infeet to $Sol).. Is Sol really worth the extra $100? And does anyone has experience with the Infeet rods? Cheers Felix |

Hey mate, I've got both reels.
The Infeet is lighter and has a finnesse spool so the drag can be adjusted more precisely, the reel is pretty smooth and it's a nice reel to use. The Sol feels more solid than the Infeet and is marginally smoother, it feels like it will last longer. Is the Sol worth $100 more than the Infeet, dunno maybe. I also have an Infeet rod, it balances really well with the infeet reel (the 6'6" rod balances well, I dont think the longer infeet balances well from memory). It is a pretty soft rod, good for light jigheads and has a fairly short butt, the infeet combo is good value for money. Hope that helps.

Looking at the stats, as far as breaming goes the Infeet is more specialised. It has a finesse spool and a machined handle which IMO are very big pluses. The Sol has one extra BB which is probably under the handle knob. You could most likely add one to the Infeet if it is missing.
Then again, the Sol is a proven reel with a long list of anglers who swear by it so.... |

i have both the 6'8 and 7'6 infeet rods and luv them both, can flick tiny hb's a mile. the 6'8 is the stand out though.
as for the reels i was going to get an infeet reel but for a little bit extra coin i went with a heartland. |

Being a noob, not sure what finesse spool and machined handle are and what advantages of having them. Can someone explain? |

Finesse spools are shallower than standard spools so you will not need backing as they are designed for fishing with small diameter (pe) braids. The machined handles are turned on a lathe I believe and are not cast out of a die and as such are manufactured to a higher degree of accuracy... May also be lighter and stronger but not sure of that. That's what I reckon anyway

For a bit of clarification;
"The Infeet is lighter.. " Both the infeet and sol come in at 230 grams "..and a machined handle.." Both reels have machined handles Yes, the infeet has a finesse spool, and this can be seen as an advantage for finer drag adjustment and convenience spooling up, but ive never had any issues with the sol drag on 2-3lb gear and its great having a spare spool sometimes My little brother got an infeet super cheap about a month ago for his first decent specialised bream reel, and for the money it was a great buy. But its no comparison in hand to a sol I am unsure of the exact form of gearing that the infeets run, or the location of the extra bearing but a quick look at the daiwa website does definately show the difference. Infeet does not run digigear (i would be thinking similar gearing to a cy or exceller, it feels very comparible to this). All toss aside the infeet is no where near as silky in hand, and have that 'knocking' feeling straight out of the box. They are great reels but to be honest, in another 6 months you would be hating that you didnt spend the extra hundred bucks on the sol, let alone in 4 years when the sol would still be going strong. Its only 5 lures difference in price... |

And the Finesse spools have a lighter drag rating but the adjustments are smaller and more precise.

i was just about to add that i actually had a 1503 rcs spool for my sol a while back, and it looked great but aside from convenence when spooling up (not having to put backing on) the difference between the two was pretty much nil so i got rid of it and bought some lures with the cash...
finer drag adjustment was very marginally an advantage with 2lb gear but an absolute pain in the ass when fishing say 6lb in tight structure all comes down to personal preference, but if this is going to be your main dedicated breamming outfit, versitility is a must and for that reason, im my opinion, go the sol you wont be dissapointed let us know how u go! |

Also machined handles wont rust up at the joint like 2 peice ones after a while. DohDohDohDohDohDohDohDoh have the Sols for $309 in 2000 and 2500 sizes.
