A message from Nifty re: Carnarvon

Hi all going to Carnarvon,
I just got a text message from Neville (Nifty).
Hea sked me to advise all going to Cranarvon to make a mixture of baby oil, detol, and aloevera to cover ourselves in as the midgies and sandflies are killers. He said that you can substitute the baby oil for aqueous cream if you prefer.

I know what I will be stocking up on before we go

Cheers

Mim

Nifty also said to make sure a few drop nets are packed.

Lots of crabs.

As I just just returned from Carnarvon on Monday, I can vouch for the fact that the midgies are thick and I think the roll on RID that you can by is an attractant. I am still itching, ankles are the worst, it is most important to apply some form of deterant. The midgies are around all day as well so don't be fooled thinking they will only be around at dusk.

Make sure you wip all the mixture off your hands before you touch your lures as the oil and dettol can take the paint off lures!!!!!!!
We put some citronella oil in our mix...
Cheers crash

Good ol

"Bushman" insect repellant is about the only stuff that will keep them tropical creek midge at bay, but don't get any on your hands, car steering wheel etc...i think it's just about straight DEET...and after using it, apart from peeling paint at 50 paces, you'll probably have birth deformed kids, if your gonads don't shrivel and drop off first!
Course like most things - sometimes the cure is worse than the illness...and so it is with them biting midge up the creeks.

I think the Midge can carry some kind of encephalitis or something equally horribble (which also makes ya gonads shrivel up n drop off!) so it's VERY important to go prepared...either way!!!

Cheers n good luck with the yellafin breams!.

HI GUYSHHH

Hi folks, just dropped in to say g'day, the weather here is FANTASTIC,,,,, SO far, no fish, I am still checking all the creeks and river out for good spots, boats will have a ball up here, yesterday I threw everything at some fish in a creek off the Gasgoyne in the mangroves, very secret spot gggggggg damn fish just wouldnt take anything even when I dropped plastics and hard bodies on his head, big bow waves from the fish but no takes. Today went out on the jetty, no fish, not just me, noone caught anything except a bloke who went past a safety barrier and pulled in a 17kg mackeral, no one else was game enough to go past the barrier so I guess it was good results to him for his effort no matter how dangerous the jetty was at that point... Anyway, tomorrow is another day, more chances, sunshine, hope it is not too wet down there for you guys Don't forget to bring your crab nets if you like a feed of crabs,,,, see ya... Nifty
