Sunline Super PE problems

Recently spooled up two Lagunas with 6lb Super PE replacing old Fireline. First impressions were very good, casts a mile and extremely thin.

Having a problem with wind knots though. Getting 5-6 a day after rarely getting them with Fireline. Ensured it was spooled correctly and there is no line twist nor is there too much on the spool. Worse yet, everytime there is a windknot, it snaps very, very easily. Normally I try to work a knot out and give it a bit of a pull, but I cannot do this with Super PE without it snapping at the knot. Today we lightly cast out a $20 lure and a wind knot formed, got stuck in the guides and off went the lure. Very gentle cast.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm also running rods with Fireline Crystal and Finns (both 4lb) and I'm not having the same problems. After all I read about this braid I expected it to be better.

Powderfish.

I've previously had little problems with this line in 6lb but recently I have had some issues. It seems to be a lot better in 10lb and above but I'm starting to think the 6lb isn't a reliable as I'd hoped. It is a pity because I hate paying so much money for braid!

Same. Great to start with but am now getting random separations in the braiding causing breaks. Lost a few lures now.....

...yeh ditto on the 6....found yes its thin, but its also light, catches in the wind a bit easily, 8lb is good though because the actual line's a bit heavier. I now run 12lb castaway and pink egi on 2 2500's and haven't had a windknot yet.

The 8lb is as thin as 6lb td sensor, and have far less wind knots, catch some decent fish and bed it in it will be fine.

I kept getting them on fireline in the 6 and 8 lb. I use the sunline super PE 10 lb, it doesn't happen to me.

Shane, it's as thin as 4-6 lb Fireline anyway, so it casts very well.
