Reel submerged in Freshwater

G'day guys,

Yesterday my recently purchased reel was dropped by my mate into a Freshwater Lake. Even though it was submerged for approximately 5Seconds it is feeling rough and isn't as smooth as it originally was.

I am just wondering what I need to do to secure it doesn't fail on me. If needed what lubricants do I purchase? What parts do I remove and re grease?

Thanks BrissyBreamer

if you are not confident completely stiping a reel your self take it ASAP to a tackleshop with a reel tech in house.
and water inside becomes snooty goop as SOON as you wind the reel, the entire reel will have to be stripped, de greased, re lubed, bearings replaced if they are damaged and put back together...

good example as to why i INOX all my reels out of the box. IF they get wet they are protected...

Thanks for your reply Hotrods,

How much do you think I'm looking at for the service?

standard issue these days is around the $25 mark. + parts if needed.

price may drop if a reel is in REALLY good condition and i have many time INCRESED the price when the reel has had NO love at all and it takes an hour just to get the handle and spool off he reel ! YUK !

Oh ok, thanks mate. It's in excellent condition as it was only purchased last week.
