Bali

Hey guys,
Im heading up to Bali in a few weeks and my question is: should I buy tackle there ie. Rods Reels Lures

Also should i take a light rod to spin of the beaches for small reefies?

Thanks,
Finbar

Fin,
What you should be taking is me you lucky ba$t@rd

I think it would always be worth taking a rod with you but not sure about the tackle going by the quality of the Rollex and Gucii products that I bought there last time you might end up with a diawa Exest and a nitrow or Mega-ass rod. probably get them cheap though

Buyer beware in places like that though..... I would be very careful if purchasing any big ticket items overseas. Have heard reports of fake steez etc doing the rounds.

Lucky you can go to Bali. I was there last year and trust me, don't ever join those fishing tour listed on those promotional leaflet. I joined and the fish I got are less than palm sized. Very colourful though. I ended up doing more swimming than fishing.

If you can, go to a local tackle store and ask them directly. I wish I had time to join them on a boat last time. And I know what I will do next time, go to a tackle store first thing I land.

If you are landbased then go to "Nusa Dua", there is some rocks there, and I got a few nice trevally on SP and a bream rod. I saw the local casting big popper so I guess there should be big fish there. Mine is about 50cm only though.

Have fun.

dude i honnestly wouldnt bother..

i went over at the begining of the year for the second time and didnt do any fishing at all... and 4 of the 5 members of my family fish lol. we considered booking a day charter chasing spaniards and tuna (note: not one of the dodgy pamphlet ones mentioned above, dont even consider those) but just couldnt justify it in the end.

i might be a bit biased here because i surf and like beer and girls, but theres seriously so much to do over there that i doubt that you will have time to fish. i surfed at least twice a day, barely slept, and came home with awesome diarrhoea.

this said, there is no doubt that there is solid fishing over there, to each his own.

have fun mate!

ps. definately try the cornello's.

cheers, matt.

Finbar

Start here:

Tackle Store, bream lures, small reels, lots of accessories, very few light rods.

Puri Pancing
Jl. Diponegoro No. 127 DENPASAR

Other tackle stores in DP but this was the best by far. If you buy heaps, ask for a discount, ask if you don't see it and come back another day, stock will be in.

I went to this place back in April and spent a couple of million rp on lures, at first I was a bit miffed at the store, and then I realised that all the good stuff was upstairs. Well worth a look.

Cheers Nath
