1lb fireline crystal

Hi Guys, I want some help/feedback from anyone who has used the fireline crystal in the 1lb rating?
what is it actually rated to break at what are peoples exp of this, and is it good for casting and finnesse fishing??

The 1 lb is ok...probably breaks around 4 or 5lb. The biggest problem is in a slight breeze you can get a big line belly as the breeze catches it which can make it difficult to control. That said you would use it over say 2lb FC straight thru when you need to feel bites in rougher conditions.

Worth a go if your interested....watch your knots though.

i would not touch fireline, spend bit more and get best braid

Fireline is fine...It has caught fish for years....

To stop the wind blowing a belly in your line, keep it wet by keeping your rod tip low.

Twelve turns in a uni knot will help your knots stay strong.

i must say i have been useing a high end braid for the last 3 years and spooled up with fireline a month ago coz i was broke and i prefer in now hey dunno why it just seems to work just as well and costs half the price :s

im a proud user of 6 and 4lb fireline but i don't think i would ever spool up with 1lb.. screams issues.

i run 2lb on a couple of spools...happy to use it if the wind is really blowing as the inherent stiffness over a true braid help with line managment.
as for strength..this stuff is boarder line indestructable !

Fireline Crystal is good

. I'll be going back to it for a cost reason, it is very good value for money. 1lb is very hard to find not too many places has it, the lowest I have tried was 3lb and that casts very nicely

Its fine mate, But Stern is better IMO i used 2lb and 3lb for years and never had any issues

It should cast further and breaks higher than 1lb so is potentially worth a look, especially if you haven't got the bucks for the premium stuff and you want to go lighter. I have some 3lb which I'm happy with. Looked at 1lb and 2lb but wasn't brave enough.

All i can say is that for what its worth to buy, it sure does the job.

It does have a habit of "fluffing" up a bit due to wear but when this happens i just strip that first section back (about 10 meters or so) and throw it out. This way you end up with a good section of line to begin the process on again and so on.

Can honestly say (as far as i can remember that is) that i have never had the main line let go before the leader has.

Alot of valid points from the other guys too.

ralph 1 lb fire line is gettin a bit light on. i use 2 and 3 lb and strip about 5 metres off after every couple of outings. you'll find the thinner the line the quicker it will wear. keep an eye on it if it looks fluffy on close inspection trim it off. the first 5 to 10m is what to look at as this is the section of line that really hammers through your runners when you cast.
