Manning River Ready For Bream Megabucks

Manning River Update

I have recently fished the Manning on three occasions

DAY1 17-6 Fished lower end rock walls, water was very clear only pulled two fish 1-30cm 1-32cm,but you could see hugh schools at the base of the rocks, the thing was the fish were very spooky had many half hits and lots of follows, the two fish imanaged to get were both taken on 12lb vanish, fished all the way to the jig. After much frustration and few bust offs i decieded to head back up river to the leases, again water was very clear, got busted up big time, so if anyone finds 2 scorpians and my favourite attack i want them back, a lot of big fish about in this area at the moment i did manage to pull 1-34cm 1-35cm and a few size fish. Next it was off to try a few of the adjoining creeks, one particular i pulled 6 fish, they ranged from 25cm up 1.1kg, the best is yet to come,i hate to say i had only made 10 cast at this particular area to pull these 6 fish, iknow hard to beieive but someone had to do it, [NOW WHICH CREEK WAS THAT]
DAY2 18-6 Fished the walls again pulling 4 good fish up 35cm hard work and a lot of rejections, even bait fishos were finding it tough BUT at night time a different story. Gave the leases a miss as not enough water in there yet, gave the creeks and north passage a hit alot of queensland fish about [23cm to fork] picked up 6 more fish from 25cm up to 34cm which there was only 1 off.
DAY3 24-6 Deceided to go up river from the town as i had not fished this area since before the first fresh , water was very clear, considering we have had two really good freshes in the last 8 weeks, there is still a bit of timber floating around which is coming from to large stick piles up river, unfortunately on my way up river i passed 8 pro fishos boats which meant they had 4 large nets out on one off the best parts off the river, which mind you is about 1.2km ,[ hopefully not much longer and we wont see them around] .Back to fishing, landed 8 legal fish 2/25cm 3/26cm 2/ 30cm and one 33cm and i forgot to mention one big bust off just no stopping it ,there are some large resident fish up in this area , funny thing is i cant remember where it was. I thought i would head back past town and have a throw in the main channels as it was getting late .Iworked one section of river which is about 200mtrs, i pulled 1-27cm 2- 30cm and last but not least 1-39.5cm, which weighed1.590kg making this my PB to date.

So as far as the manning fishes it is nearly at its best at this date ,so i hope all those entered in the mega bucks enjoy the fishing as much as i have recently

GOOD LUCK TO ALL THOSE FISHING THE MEGABUCKS

hey guys, sorry about the rough job typing as i was in a hurry, as i had promised the family a day out [ and no fishing for a change]
please excuse the spelling etc, also i had stated that i had used 12lb vanish it should have read 2lb,maybe 12lb would have stopped the couple of bust offs i had on some big fish

argoskipper

i have recently fished the south passage, i spent a good day working this entire area picked up some fish east of Bonock,
mainly fished structure, piers, floating leases, snags and a couple of deep holes, fish ranged from 25cm up to 34cm,for some reason there seems to be alot of smaller fish in the south, wether it is because of the water flow as this has changed alot with silting up of mudbishops, also scored a few fish around the silos which is futher up the river , tried many of the creeks with only small fish about.Fished the north side of charlies island on the flats, this area is missed by many, try fishing from the shallow flats into the main channel there is afew weed beds around, i have pulled fish constantly from this area, fish over the 1.0kg. Another area to try is around the bridges and rock walls on the quiter parts of the tide.I fish the Manning at least 4 days a week and lately the north side has out fished the south by far,i think it all comes back to water flow
