Removing Trebles?

Hi Peoples,

I generally fish H/B's such as SX 40's & Scorpions, and the odd vibe over shallow weed beds/ sandy flats.

Naturally I catch weed, mostly on the bottom treble. From what I can see in pics, most bream are caught on the rear treble.

Do any people remove the bottom treble?

Does this then make suspending lures slightly bouyant?

Would this be of benefit, or hinderence?

Cheers,

Pat

but if you want the lure to suspend you will have to replace the weight of the treble that you are removing, eg put on a larger size decoy clip or a small slplit shot on to the eye the treble is supposed to attatch.

have you thought about W hooks?

cheers

Put a W hook on instead. It will decrease you chances of snagging weed etc and still provide a point to hook up a fish.

A lot of fish do hit the rear treble but i have found the bigger fish i have caught have hit the front treble.

This is only a 36cm tip from really shallow water

also i have found that when a fish hits the rear treble it will hook it self and during the fight the front treble will somehow also get hooked on the fish and this makes it harder to drop fish...

a w is the way to go. although a lot of bream are caught on the tail treble, they do often hit the eyes of the lure while its paused.. i strongly recommend not removing the front hook up point. use a w

Cheers guys,

I like the idea of more hooks to catch the crafty buggers, so I think I'll try some W hooks. Thanks for all the advice.

Cheers,

Pat

the innovator w hooks would be my recommendation, they're strong and stay sharp

i've also got some samples of the Vanfook doubles to have a look at as their trebles are quality
