Wink You Never Know

Lets say something really weird happened and I landed a Bream bigger than the current state record. As a previous comp entrant (ABT member... although badgeless & receiptless) would that capture qualify for recognition ? Also, would the Breammaster shop be able to officially weigh and record the fish (released after of course). If not, where would a bloke take the said fairy tale ?

Just curious, not over confident !

Hi Rosco

the ABT Bream record is just that, it was done in an ABT comp' so the record is set. As far as general fishing goes well I don't have an answer other than last week at Canning Bridge the current ABT record was broken by Josh at 50cm and 2 point something kilos. As far as free fishing goes I don't know how you go about recording the figures, does someone here have info on that?

Confusion

I think I may have mislead you JP. What I was refering to was a fish being caught (bait or lure), outside of an ABT tournament that exceeded the current state record (2.95 kg I think). From what I believe you must be a member of an affiliated fishing club to claim such a record and I wasn't sure wether an ABT membership covered that fact. I was also wondering which tackle shops in Perth could officially weigh and record such a capture ?

Does that make any sense ??

Yep a long time ago JP told us the story of that bream, it shuold be in the forums somewhere still..

Or maybe he should tel it again!

Anyways yes it was caught on bait but this a few years ago before he started breamin with lures, and I dont think he was even serious about targetting big bream like that at a time...what luck..

mother of a fish it was, story here:

http://www.breammaster.com/forum/sho...id=357#post357

I've been practising catch and release for over 25 years and always been serious about scoring good fish. The big bream in question was lured by an accurate cast underneath JoJos cafe at Nedlands where I twitched the prawn to add some life. Not unlike what you do with a soft plastic. The recent Swan River toxic algae problem saddens me as it is most likely I'll never get a chance to beat 2.65 kg. I've had a few close to 2 kg but no sign of any larger.

ps: the bream in my current avatar went 1.4kg
