little boats?

here's a brain teaser for you all:
i am starting to look at little boats at the moment, ultimatley i want something that i could wheel around 400 meters by myself (not tow) so it needs to be fairly light. i dont need to be able to lift it by myself or anything. it also needs to be able to handle port phillip bay when it is calm (that would be the only real time i would take it out)
i have a kayak at the moment that i fish off but i am starting to want to go out further and get there faster. i also want to be able to take a mate fishing with me when he wants to go.
i love the look of the piranha boats because they just look sick, but they are a bit heavy especially when you add an engine. and i'm not sure if they are sold in victoria http://www.piranhaboats.com.au/
also how much are engines? 10 or 15hp outboard engines (new) i was thinking of an evinrude because i have heard alot of good things about them, or a yamaha, or a tohatsu 'cause we have them on our rubber duckies at my surf club and they can really cop a beating.

any advice greatly apresciated.

cheers

wouldnt wanna be in port phillip with two blokes in that pirhana 3m, have a 385 with a 25hp and me and a mate go out in the bay for snapper when they are on and when its calm, and let me tell you it can blow up in 5 minutes and then you would be stuffed, i struggle to get us back especially when the wind is comin at you... try and get the biggest you can considering you have ayak for breamin try and look for a 380 dory with a 15 hp and youl be right... jmo cheers

my yak is for bay work and i paddle out and chase flatties and snapper, often i go about a kilometer out or a bit less. the tinny would be for light bay work and breaming. haha i was out one time with another bloke in the kayak and it blew from 5knots to 25knots and paddling 600 meters to shore into a 25knot headwind was tough, i would have prefered the tinny let me tell you, tough but fun, quite fun.
jacob dude i like your thinking haha cheap boat and maad engine. you got any idea what a new 10hp motor would set you back?

cheers

Tinny

Definately go a 10' conventional hull tinny second hand, get a new Tohatsu 9.8hp - around $2,100. Best power to weight on the market - only 26kg!

My 10 footer (9.8 Tohatsu) does 16 knots light.

Get some tinny wheels on it (removable that lock onto the gunwhales so you can balance it) and make a tow point on the bow and you'll be able to tow it with a mountain bike.

You will end up under 100kg with all your gear on the boat and probably even a casting deck.
