walking the dog retrieve

Time for my stupid question...... can someone please explain exactly what a 'walk the dog' retrieve is? My understanding is that its a retrieve, with a series of pauses and then small jerks/twitches of the lure. That's sort of how I use an SX40 along riverbanks, so I may very well be doing it, but I would like to know for sure if that's what people mean when they refer to a 'walking the dog' retrieve. Thanks.

By the way... anyone having any luck in the Maribyrnong lately (footscray-ish area )? I've seen a few people fishing without much luck (exception being with bait) and am not seeing many fish along the edges as i would normally expect to by this time of year. Thanks.

walking the dog retrieve is usually used with surface lures and composes of flicking of the rod tip to make the lure go side to side works well on the breamski's haha
