How long before a change?

Hi everyone, I have generally been fishing the Murray and Serpentine rivers from around Pinjarra Rd and upstream, shore based. I am curious as to how long, in general, does one stay on the same structure? How long before you go ok there is nothing here and move onto another snag etc? Additionally how long do you stay with the one type of lure and if you stay with the one type when does one change the colour? The colour change or type when using sp's is easy so do you change them often in one session? Or is it you go out often enough so know the area and what lures/colours to use at specific times of the day/year?

Usually no more than half a dozen casts, but what we often do is hit a stretch 2 or more times in a session as fish can move and even seeing a lure a few times can make them hit.
