Which One ?

Looking at putting some new line (6lb) on my straddy 1000 - whats best ?

currently have the blue nitlon PE but you can't see the line in the water and have had a fair amount of windknots

looking to buy at a local perth shop as opposed to buying it on the net

have tried crystal fireline and don't dig it

cheers

I actually like the hi vis yellow nitlon PE. You have to constantly put it under strain to make sure it doesnt knot up. That means a cast to the middle of the river to wind it on tight. I prefer the sufix performance braid in yellow 6lb as it doesn knot up much at all. Im looking to trying the new raiglon line and leaders soon. From the few reports i have heard of before its release, its quite good.

I've only used the suffix performance braid in the 6lb, so i cant offer a broad opion on lines, but i've had no problems with it and i'd use it again, just be careful and don't get suffix matrix pro, i've heard a few bad reports on it.

Cheers Nath

I've used a fair few braids and if you want something just for breaming that is an amazing line try Unitika Aorika PEII. comes in 90m spools which are colour marked every 10m. Came in handy over east when I was dropping plastics down about 12m over really rocky ground. Casts like a dream too.

Otherwise Sunline Super PE is good stuff too.

go check out Sunline Castaway in PE 0.6 awesome stuff. Not quite a Varivas but heaps cheaper and almost as good. I use it on 2 of my bream reels and light/medium stuff. Be aware that its PE0.6 has 10lb BS.

All my reels have Technics Spectra on it. Campbells Protackle in leederville sell it from 4 - 30lb i think. Depends on yr size spool but its around $25 a spool (300yds est). I have used this line for a couple of years now and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It comes in green or yellow. Ive tried quite a few braids and this one is a great all round braid. My sustain has the same braid on it from feb last year and is still fine. It pulled in a 8kg trev at Exmouth recentley, so imo its doing great for over a year old, im sticking with this brand!!

Isaac and i just spooled our 1000 Stradic's up with 6lb nitlon and found it to be the worst braid for wind knots ever!?!. So im back to 2lb crystal fireline, a fave since i started breamin never had a problem with it.

Cheers
