Shimano Firebloods

Has anyone seen any of these in Perth?

Would like to have a play, the new rod coin fund must be getting to the point of new rod purchase time

and i think for such a light rod the guides are too heavy. asthetically its all good. blank seems nice though...whats the RRP over there for them still around the 500 mark ??

and what reel are you using ????

Dont know the RRP havent found one yet I am using twinpower 2500's on my 7' rods.

If the rod is a little heavy it's ok, as long as it looks sexy while being heavy

Hi Shane,
I have 2 fireblood rods, the 721 and the 691. I'll bring them into work tomorrow so you can have a look at them when you pick up your twin Power. I'll work out a price for you too

Dont Usually like bagging a product, but was very dissapointed when I picked one up at the store. Have been a shimano fan from the start but sadly Daiwa have been pruducing better rods & reels. Thought Shimano was going to make a comeback with this seasons products as the FB look shmick in the catalog.
Thick blank for weight heavy guides and action did not feel that good (rod only) did not bother lining up and casting. Plenty of better rods out there. I would even rate the plueger trion over this at a fifth of the price!

I have played a little with them, the quick wiggle I do in shops. I dont think you can rate these rods without a Fireblood reel attached. From reading on the net they where designed to go with these rods, so might even out the balance.

I didnt mind the weight, but the balance was off for me. But as I said I think that would level out with a fireblood attached.

Disappointing, to say the least. Very flash, plenty of bling, smoking hot colour scheme, good components.

BUT!!!!

As mentioned before, very heavy for their ratings.
Very thick, heavy blanks.
Build quality not quite up there for the amount of money you'd be shelling out.

I use the 6' 9 model, blank may be a little heavier than most conventional "bream" rods but the action of the blank is sensational and it works very nicely under load and when casting. I would look past the weight/thickness of the blank and concentrate on the more important aspects. The rod was a very welcome addition to my current batch and for the record I paid normal retail for the rod and was happy to do so.

The last time I saw such a nice rod from a big manufacturer was when the Heartland Z's hit the shores many years ago.
