Shimano Antares and Daiwa Zillion
Hey,
I want to get a Shimano Antares, mainly because of its outstanding performance, but my friend is convincing me that the Daiwa Zillion is better. I know that it is a good reel, but is it as good as an Antares? Cheers DaiwaFreak |

antares for sure.
more ball bearings = smoother operation made by shimano = smooth operation ![]() all ARB = saltwater fine ( zillion's rated SW ok but bearings r made of stainless steel )overall, antares is a way better reel. it's refinement's in line with steez. zillion's apparently a inferior reel compared to antares. |

FYI a high quality stainless steel bearing will outlast an ARB or CRBB bearing. Fair enough Shimano makes smoother reels in general but smoothness may not be the requirement of the reel if you want cranking power.
Main thing is what do you prefer?? Get all the information you need and decide what you want. Personally I prefer the Antares. |

the antares/calais has the highest grade S-ARB shimano uses so i prefer it over any standard stainless steel bearings.
as for cranking power, antares line's famous for it's unbelievable cranking power and smoothness over other competitors. this is not a fair competition i have to say. antares's top shimano and zillion's still a budget reel that doesn't even have full bearing count and some components r still stamped( not cold forged). also, the drag of antares's dartanium( spelling) drag system and it's known for the best drag performance. antares wins without a doubt here. |
