Exist or Steez

About to make a purchase to match a Saltist 7" 2-5lbs and was wondering whether to spend the extra from the Steez to the Exist.

Mate i put a thread up a while back regarding the steez and alot of people said it was basically the same reel in a different looking body. I have since bought a couple of 2508 Steez. They are AWESOME reels. Ultra light and ultra smooth. My luvias's and certates are in the 1000 & 1500 size and the Steez looks quite a bit larger but not too big to be unbalanced on a bream rod. If you dont mind the size of the 2500 go for the steez save some money. I ended up getting mine from Basspro.com they seemed to be the cheapest around. Plus they are the best looking reel ever made hands down.

When I was looking at updating all my reels I looked at the Steez.
Diawa quoted me that the Steez was a fresh water reel designed for flurocarbon.
They told me they would not warrant the reels from corrosion as they knew I would be breamin with them.
They are ment to have a different type of magnesium coating on the outside.

I ended up with Exists.
The Exist's are a saltwater reels. Most now are over 2 years old, they get serviced every 6months and I love em!
Now I have them in a few sizes and since turning to Exisits the only other series of spin reels I have bought are Branzino's and Saltigas.

How do u go about servicing Your daiwa reels do u just send them back to daiwa under waranty requiring a service.

If you buy your reel from overseas say bass.jp then you'll find the exist cheaper then the steez. But the only problem with buying overseas is the warrenty.

I just send them to Daiwa threw my local tackle shop for service. I just send in a couple at a time so if they take a while, I still have a near full kit to fish with but most of the time they are back within 2 weeks.

Brad Sissins from Daiwa told me that the Australian Steez threadlines are made for use in saltwater, where Steez made for Japanese and American markets is freshwater only.

Steez baitcast are freshwater-only the world over.

A danger of buying overseas!

I have had a Steez for about 12 months now, and it is the best reel I have ever picked up. It is washed in freshwater after every trip, lubricated with Inox at every moving exterior part, then sprayed all over with a thin film of Inox. I don't anticipate any corrosion problems.
I have also just purchased a Daiwa Ignis 2000, and though it is listed as freshwater only, I don't anticipate any problems with it either. The Ignis is almost as good as Steez. It only weighs 185 gm., and on a 60 gm. B.D. 1-3 Bream Reaper, it is an absolute dream to use. Well worth the extra time spent on maintenance that all good quality gear should receive anyway.

all daiwa steez spinning are same and can use in saltwater !!
only the japanese version "Exist Steez" is freshwater use and for fluorocarbon line use only!

the exist might seem more worth it because the spool size is smaller and might suit your saltist better rather than a 2500 spool steez.

Thanks for all the advice,
I thing the steez may be the answer, Although the ignis might be worth a look. The shop I went in to had the luvias(original intended purchase 175gms), certate, steez & exist however there was a quantum step in smoothness from the luvias to the certate, and a very minor step from certate to steez & exist. Could not separate the Exist & steez for smoothness may be a little but not $200 worth.
My other main concern was the corrosion resistance on the steez which were allayed by various post above, as previous catalogues did not state the steez with crbbs but this years cat does have exactly the same specs for exist & steez.
Now to get over the aesthetics of having the largest reel on my lightest rod, as i run 2000 certates on my other rods. As I said the ignis may get a look in anyone know where to find one to look at in melb?
another reel has just come into the equationa as we speak the new twin power according to a friend is the smoothest reel going around? bugger, shimano???

The Ignis is a Japan only model. I bought mine for about AU$400 delivered from bass.jp. I am taking a chance with this reel, as Daiwa classify it as freshwater only, but with my strict service and care of my reels, I don't think I have much to worry about. I guess time will tell.
